Brad BennettSenior Broker
Brad has over 25 years of employee benefits experience. He began his career with BlueCross & BlueShield of Utah working his way up to the Commercial Accounts Representative. While at BlueCross his responsibilities included negotiating and renewing large group accounts as well as servicing the employee benefits needs of the client. Brad has been with GBS for over 20 years. He is licensed in Health, Life and Disability insurance.
Brad joined GBS Benefits in early 2015, bringing with him over 30 years of industry experience. Having worked for a carrier earlier in his career (BlueCross Blue Shield of Utah) and at another regional insurance agency, Brad’s background allows him to effectively consult with clients in the decision making process.
Brad has significant experience with both self-funded and fully insured medical and dental plans, stop-loss contracts, and high deductible health plans with health savings accounts. In fact, Brad was among the first brokers in Utah to write business on a high deductible health plan with a health savings account. Additionally, with his former firm, Brad was instrumental in developing a health care captive to assist employers in mitigating the large increases in stop-loss costs.
Brad has worked with many high-profile Utah employers and looks forward to developing partnerships with other noteworthy employers as a representative of GBS Benefits. At GBS Benefits, Brad will provide clients with relevant insight as they select and implement benefit offerings for their organizations. As a licensed consultant, he will focus on designing plans and strategies, educating clients on industry trends, and negotiating rates, benefits, and contracts. Because of his strong personal commitment to give back to the community in which he works, Brad serves as a board member for two non-profit organizations.
Chris Nelson has been in the health insurance industry since 2012 Prior to joining GBS in 2017, Chris was an account executive for a third-party administrator, working directly with many small and large self-funded benefit plans. This position gave Chris valuable experience in health plan reporting and analytics, reinsurance contracts, and large claims negotiations. Chris also worked for OptumHealth Bank and has experience with health savings accounts. Chris attended the University of Arizona, where he earned a B.S. in public health. He is licensed to sell health, life, and disability insurance.
Christian Kunz joined GBS Benefits in early 2015 as an Employee Benefits Broker. His clients appreciate his analytical nature and his ability to quickly assess their needs and explain their benefit options. Christian enjoys the challenge of tailoring specific benefit solutions to align with the needs of each client’s organization and employee population. Prior to GBS Benefits, Christian was a Commercial Real Estate Agent with Marcus & Millichap closing transactions in excess of $15 million in his first 18 months. Christian attended Brigham Young University where he earned a B.A. in Economics with Minors in Business Management and Japanese. He is licensed in Health, Life and Disability insurance.
Clint Wadsworth has 14 years of industry experience. He returned to GBS Benefits in 2013 to re-open our St. George office. Just prior to his current position, Clint was the Director of Sales for Kaiser Permanente in Honolulu, Hawaii. While working for Kaiser, Clint increased sales by over 200 percent through his efforts in hiring, training, and motivating the sales force. Before Kaiser Permanente, Clint was employed with Unum as a Group Sales Consultant for 2 years and then as a Benefits Consultant at GBS Benefits for 5 years. Clint has a BA from Southern Utah University and an MBA from Chaminade University of Honolulu. Clint is licensed in health, life and disability.
Dan McKean is a broker with GBS Benefits. In his role, Dan assists clients with benefit design, education, and negotiation. Prior to joining GBS Benefits in 2009, Dan was employed with Humana as a Small Group Sales Executive. His strong carrier background is advantageous as he helps clients understand what is available in the marketplace and negotiates with carriers on their behalf. Dan attended San Diego State University where he studied Business Administration and Management. He is licensed in Health, Life and Disability insurance.

Dave Johnson is an agency co-owner of the LGBS organization and Vice President. Dave has overseen and managed LGBS since its inception in February of 2006. Prior to joining LGBS , Dave owned his own insurance brokerage. As a client service leader and sales representative for Sierra Life and Health, Dave gained invaluable insight about the interaction of underwriting and risk management as
it relates to plan design, rate structuring and renewal strategies. Armed with this experience, Dave has been able to expertly guide clients in the creation, design and implementation of complex employee benefits strategies. As a thought leader and innovator in the health insurance industry for 20 years.
Dave Johnson helps shape the Employee Benefits Practice for the entire Leavitt organization as a member of the Employee Benefits Advisory Council. Dave graduated from the University of Nevada Las Vegas, where he majored in communications. He is licensed in the State of Nevada.

In April of 2003, Dave retired from the golf business to take a position at his son Dave’s insurance agency, Johnson Insurance. When Johnson Insurance merged with The Leavitt Insurance Agency to create LGBS in February 2006, Dave became a health and life insurance Broker/Account Executive. His golf career spanned 35 years, during which time he held positions as a Director of Golf/General Manager at prominent resort properties in Las Vegas. He is a Life Member of the Professional Golfers Association of America. Having worked in the hospitality industry, provided Dave with a rather unique opportunity, as well as a keen understanding of the importance of customer service. He attended Brigham Young University on an athletic scholarship and continued his education at University of Utah majoring in Business Administration. He is licensed in the State of Nevada.

Don McKean is an employee benefits broker with over 35 years of healthcare experience. Prior to joining GBS Benefits in 2007, Don worked for a variety of medical carriers that rendered services to both Fortune 500 and smaller companies. His responsibilities included direct sales, account management, financial analysis, consultation, service delivery and staffing. Don has significant self-funding experience working with large, multi-site employers that required the administration of complex benefit programs. Don received a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Social Work, both from the University of Utah. He is licensed in Health, Life and Disability insurance.
Dustin Harper is an Employee Benefits Broker with GBS Benefits. Dustin began his career in the insurance industry in 2013 and has been an agent since 2014. Dustin quickly found success and achieved “Top new agent” and “Top overall enrollments” and soon became the agency sales manager. The startup company was acquired by GBS Benefits and Dustin’s expertise in insurance and ACA law and regulations made him a perfect fit as a benefits broker. Clients appreciate how he helps them navigate and thrive in the ever evolving health insurance landscape. His passion is assisting clients make the best decisions about their benefits. Dustin has a Bachelor’s of Science in Business with a Minor in Spanish from the University of Utah and is licensed in Health, Life, and Disability insurance.
Elizabeth Fineberg joined the Volk GBS team as an Account Manager in 2017. She has been in the insurance industry since 1999, previously working as an Independent Insurance Agent with Aflac. Elizabeth worked as a part of the Broker Development team in Colorado, and as a specialized Worksite Benefit Specialist with Volk GBS clients since 2003. She thrives on helping clients find ways to enhance their overall benefit packages while providing a consultative approach to sales. Elizabeth is a licensed consultant in both Health and Life insurance.
Gordon BrownSenior Broker
Gordon has over 25 years of employee benefit experience — exclusively working in the large group market with a primary focus on employers of 100+ employees. For more than 15 years Gordon worked for SelectHealth, acting as department director of Large Employer Group Sales and handling all of their self-funded accounts. He is trained in underwriting and medical plan development and was responsible for sales training at SelectHealth. Gordon has been with GBS Benefits for nine years, adding extensive knowledge and experience to our sales team with his self-funded background. Gordon attended the University of Utah where he received a bachelor’s degree in marketing. He is licensed in Health, Life, and Disability Insurance.

Jason Wagner has been working in the health insurance industry since 2000, and joined GBS Benefits as a Consultant in 2003. He has extensive experience in all insurance lines that relate to group benefit plans. Prior to joining GBS Benefits, Jason was a Sales Representative for Sun Life Financial. He was responsible for growth and product development with employer groups, Brokers/Agents, Consultants, insurers and TPAs. His main focus was working with self-funded clients. Jason graduated from Brigham Young University with a Broadcast Communications degree with an emphasis in Media Sales and Management. Jason is licensed in Health, Life and Disability insurance.
Jeff Allen is a Benefits Consultant with 8 years of experience. Prior to joining LGBS, he worked in sales for a national firm. As a benefits consultant, Jeff ensures that his clients maintain compliance with Health Care Reform as well as the future amendments that may occur in our current political climate. As these changes affect the employee benefit industry, he continues to provide innovative strategies to get his clients the best value for their insurance dollar. Jeff focuses on fully insured plans for small to large organizations, as well as companies that want to pursue self-funding options. Jeff Kluge is an Employee Benefits Consultant and Entrepreneur. He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and obtained his Undergraduate Degree in Management and Finance and his MBA with a Finance emphasis. Jeff visited Salt Lake City during the Olympics and after meeting many wonderful people and enjoying the beauty Utah has to offer, he permanently moved to Utah in 2002. As an owner of GBS Benefits, Inc in Salt Lake City, Jeff offers unmatched expertise in employee benefits, problem solving, financial analysis, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Health Care Reform.
Jeff has earned the “Chairman’s Circle Award,” every year since he started with Leavitt Group, which recognizes the top ten insurance agents within Leavitt Group’s 125+ offices across the country. Katie started her career on the carrier side of the industry, first with National Benefit Services for 5 years and then 1 year at EMI Health as a Sales Executive before being recruited to GBS Benefits in 2011. Katie started at the firm as the Small Employer Specialist and helped to build the Small Employer team. Her success in this position presented the opportunity to shift into her current role as an Employee Benefits Broker in 2016. Katie received her Bachelor of Science from Weber State University and is licensed in Health, Life and Disability Insurance.
K.C. joined GBS Benefits in 2016 as an Employee Benefits Broker. Prior to joining GBS, K.C. served as president and co-founder of a software company specializing in mobile apps. Upon the acquisition of his company in 2015, K.C. worked as a consultant for several large organizations helping each improve in the areas of sales, software integration, and project management. He is excited to use his experiences as a business owner to help his clients in the world of health benefits. K.C. played Division 1 basketball at Utah State University while earning his degree. K.C. holds a B.A. in Liberal Arts with Minors in Spanish and Business Management as well as a master’s degree in Business Administration. K.C. is licensed in Health, Life and Disability insurance.
Kenny joined LGBS in November of 2016. Previously, he was a professional golf player and spent time on the Nationwide Tour (now the Web.com Tour). He also worked in sports management, where he represented athletes in the NFL as well as the PGA Tour. He worked extensively with marketing, player development, logistics, and charitable efforts. He graduated from Southern Utah University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. He is licensed in the State of Nevada.
Kim Nielsen has a background that includes sales, human resources, and carrier expertise. Kim joined the GBS Benefits team in 2015 as a Client Manager and has since shifted into the role of Employee Benefits Broker. Just prior to GBS Benefits, she was an Individual Sales Representative with SelectHealth, managing the largest Idaho book of business in the Individual Department. Prior to SelectHealth, Kim spent 8 years as the Accounting and HR Specialist with a local small business. Her carrier experience and years in HR on the client side of the industry blend together to give Kim a unique perspective as she helps her clients make informed benefit decisions. Kim attended BYU Idaho, The University of Utah and Salt Lake Community College. She is licensed in Accident & Health and Life Insurance.
Koner has over 20 years of experience in the implementation and administration of self-funded plans and joined LGBS in 2008. Prior to joining LGBS, Koner served as president and co-founder of Mediversal, Inc. for 14 years. Mediversal was an administrative services organization which provided third-party administration, utilization review, provider networks, and reinsurance placement to self-funded health and workers compensation plans until being acquired in 2005. Koner graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with majors in Accounting and Finance and is licensed in the State of Nevada.
Landon Fielding joined GBS Benefits in early 2015 as an Employee Benefits Broker. Landon has been in the employee benefits field since 2008. He has worked in various areas of the insurance industry, including underwriting and sales. Through his industry experience, he has come to enjoy the complexity and strategy associated with self-funded cases, and how risk and technology partner together to redefine the employer experience. As technology continues to reshape the insurance landscape, he has the understanding and background to provide the right solutions tailored to fit your specific business needs. Landon has a B.S. in Strategic Communications from the University of Utah and is licensed in Health, Life, and Disability Insurance.
Laura PeiferSenior Broker
Laura Peifer has nearly 30 years of healthcare industry experience and joined the GBS Benefits team as an employee benefits broker in 2011. Formerly with Wise Provider Networks (WPN) as a Principal Consultant, she handled the negotiation, contracting, and management of custom healthcare networks. In her specialized role she worked with many high-profile and Fortune 500 companies.
At GBS Benefits, Laura works with small employers as well as large corporate clients headquartered throughout Utah, Wyoming, and Colorado. Laura has experience with both fully-insured and self-funded arrangements. Laura’s clients appreciate her strategic approach which is centered on developing cost-saving strategies. She has partnered with the Associated Builders & Contractors of Utah to create an exclusive pool for small businesses looking to avoid community rating.
Laura has been a repeat recipient of the prestigious Chairman’s Circle Award recognizing the top 10 insurance brokers within the nationwide Leavitt Group organization. Within the community, Laura serves with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Salt Lake and founded the Kids Eat! program at the Club providing meals to children and families at home and after school. Lee Robison has been in the insurance industry since 1978. He joined LGBS in 1997 having previously worked in life insurance and estate planning and for a national health insurance carrier coordinating marketing and underwriting. Over his career, Lee has been involved with A wide-range of clients, including multi-state businesses. He has helped design, implement, and service various partially self-funded health plans, working closely with carriers, underwriters. and administrators. In addition, he has worked with collective bargaining units and served as the benefits consultant for a local firefighters’ union. He has been a member of the National Association of Health Underwriters, Clark County Association of Health Underwriters, and National Association of Life Underwriters. Lee is licensed in the state of Nevada.
Leslie has been in the insurance industry since 2004 and features a strong emphasis in the large national-based client sector. Having held Large Employer Sales and Account Management positions at both SelectHealth and Regence Blue Cross and Blue Shield prior to her time with GBS, she has in-depth knowledge of underwriting guidelines, self-funding, rate negotiations, and product placement. Leslie joined GBS in 2014 as a National Large Employer Account Manager. Her proactive analysis and ability to identify cutting edge solutions for her clients, lead her to transition to the role of Broker. Her skill set is unique and provides a foundational understanding of the day-to-day hurdles employers face. Leslie currently partners with groups from 80 to 20,000 employees with a variety of demographics and funding arrangements.She is licensed in Health, Life, and Disability insurance in the state of Utah.

Mark Johnson has been with GBS Benefits for over 10 years, and brings a detailed knowledge of employee benefit programs including group health plans, dental, vision, life, long and short-term disability plans, employee assistance programs, flexible spending accounts, and 401(k)s. Mark has 18 years of prior experience with EMI Health, where he worked in various aspects of employee benefits, and held many leadership positions, including Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
Matt Evelyn has over nine years of health insurance industry experience. He is currently the Vice President of Employee Benefits, managing Volk GBS’s large group accounts. Matt received his Bachelor’s in Finance from the University of Florida. Matt began his career working in analytics for Gallagher before moving onto Cigna Healthcare. He spent seven years at Cigna as a New Business Manager educating employers on medical products, mainly focusing on self-funding. Matt is a licensed consultant in Health and Life insurance.
Parker joined LGBS in 2016 and quickly earned the distinction of Top New Producer. He enjoys having conversations with clients and listening to their needs. Richard Jensen has been involved with employee benefit consulting since 1989. Prior to joining GBS Benefits in 2000, he spent 6 years with Health Benefits America (HBA), a national benefits consulting firm, providing strategies for health plan offerings and benefit design for several Fortune 100 companies. Following HBA, he spent over 5 years with CNN Managed Care, the largest national PPO network, as a Regional Vice President for the Utah, Idaho, and Colorado markets, delivering provider network solutions to large accounts. Richard received his Bachelor’s degree in English and German from the University of Utah and Master’s of Business Administration from Brigham Young University. He is licensed in Health, Life and Disability insurance.

Rick joined Leavitt Group / GBS as Managing Principal in April, 2007 following seven years as President of Benepro, a full service Employee Benefits firm in Arizona. Rick has several years of experience on the carrier side that benefits his clients having served as Vice President of Marketing and Sales for United Healthcare, Healthpartners Health Plans, and Samaritan Health Plans. Prior to these positions, Rick was Vice President of Underwriting for CIGNA for 9 year. Rick has over nine years’ experience in underwriting all products provided in employee benefit packages including medical, dental, short and long term disability, Life, cafeteria plans, Section 125 and 401K products. Prior to underwriting and sales positions, Rick managed Payroll and Benefits for CIGNA and its 15,000 employees. Rick graduated from Holy Cross College with a B.A. in Economics and from Cornell University with a Masters in Business Administration concentrating in Finance. He is licensed in the state of Arizona.
Rick has nearly 13 years of experience in the group benefits field. Prior to joining GBS Benefits in 2008, he was with Dental Select and Altius Health Plans. Rick earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Brigham Young University with an emphasis in Insurance, Risk Management, and Financial Services. Riley Nelson joined the GBS Benefits team as a Broker in 2015 bringing with him a strong background in sales and ongoing account management. Just prior to GBS Benefits, Riley was an Account Executive with CVE Technologies, a channel reseller for major IT companies. While there he grew his sales territory from $0 to $1.6 million in just 18 months. Riley played football as a Division I quarterback at Brigham Young University and graduated in August 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. He is fluent in written and conversational Spanish with an IRL Level 4 Full Professional Proficiency. Riley is licensed in Accident & Health and Life Insurance.

Rob has over 20 years of employee benefit experience since starting in 1987. He spent 10 years working for several insurance carriers including SelectHealth, FHP and Pacificare. While working for these carriers Rob held positions in large group sales, management and upper management positions. He also served on the underwriting committee and appeals committee for 3 years with these carriers. Rob has worked for the past 12 years with GBS as a producer and specializes in large group, fully insured and self-funded companies with 100+ employees. Rob specializes in the benefit areas of medical, dental, life, disability and vision products. Scott Fielding has been in the insurance industry since 1990. He joined GBS Benefits in 1994, and served as a partner prior to the merger with the Leavitt Group in 2006. Scott has extensive expertise in fully insured, retrospective, and self-funding contracts. He specializes in creative employee benefit plan design, HRAs, HSAs and self-funded plan designs, TPA & PBM negotiations, association plan creation, negotiation and plan management. He has an extensive knowledge of underwriting methodologies and carrier negotiations. Scott is a professional with the ability to quickly understand the key issues and develop solid business processes and solutions. He is licensed in Health, Life and Disability insurance.

Scott has over 25 years of health insurance industry experience. He currently manages over 100 million in premium with clients ranging from 2-7,000 employees. Scott received his Bachelors of Science degree from Weber State University and continued his education at Brigham Young University, where he received his MBA with an emphasis in Finance. Scott began his career at FHP Health Care, Inc. as a National Account Executive where he worked for 6 years before moving onto Intergroup HealthCare Corporation of Utah (IHC). He worked as a Sales Manager and focused on opening and developing a new marketing department for new HMO. He then moved into the role of Director of Sales and Marketing for IHC. In 1997 he began working for GBS Benefits as a Broker/Consultant. As GBS has grown, Scott has and continues to provide excellent service to his clients as the insurance industry evolves. Stephanie Conti joined GBS Benefits in 2009 bringing 22 years of experience from Regence BlueCross & BlueShield of Utah where she was a Senior Sales Executive. She specifically worked with employer groups and brokerage firms of all sizes and locations regarding product design, underwriting guidelines and rate negotiation. Stephanie developed an expertise in fully insured & self-funded arrangements for medical, dental and ancillary product offerings. Her extensive knowledge and proficiency as a Sales Executive & Account Manager have made her an asset to her clients. Stephanie is licensed in Health, Life and Disability Insurance.
Shauna Romine has lifelong experience with the health insurance industry and has been involved with GBS since its inception in 1989. She first worked as a Sales Director outside the insurance industry managing high profile clients, executing and negotiating contracts, securing long-term relations while serving their specific needs. In 2004 Shauna returned to GBS as a Group Benefits Specialist, utilizing the skill-set she has built over the last 20+ years. She received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah in Finance and Marketing and is licensed in Health, Life and Disability insurance.
Steve Cochran joined GBS Benefits in 2014 bringing 4 years of experience selling insurance in the Uintah Basin. He graduated from Utah Valley University and has a wealth of industry expertise. As a student at UVU, he founded a website and local store-front retailing sport supplements and co-founded J3LL Watches. Steve is licensed in Accident, Health and Life Insurance.
Taun Stewart joined the Employee Benefits Broker Team in 2016 bringing with him a strong background in client services. Prior to GBS Benefits, Taun was a Benefits Assistant with The Hawaii Group where he helped manage benefits for over 200 clients. Taun graduated from Utah Valley University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and is licensed in Accident, Health and Life insurance.
Tim KingSenior Consultant
Tim operates the GBS Benefits Vernal office with over ten years of experience in the health insurance industry. He is licensed in Health, Life, and Disability Insurance, and has experience assisting both small and large employers with their employee benefit needs. Tim previously served on the Broker Advisory Board with Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Utah and was recognized as a top producer while doing so. Prior to entering the benefit industry, Tim owned his own business, giving him unique insight to help assess the needs of employers.
Tina Ramey joined Volk GBS in September of 2011. Prior to joining the firm as Vice President of Business Development, Tina served as the District Sales Manager at PayChoice, working to help businesses find solutions to deliver sustainable benefits by connecting employees and work practices. Tina has over 12 years in the insurance industry, working to manage and develop teams. She works strategically with a company’s leadership team helping to drive their goals and initiatives, leveraging all of the different resources, divisions, and products to help clients build their businesses. Todd Barr joined GBS Benefits in 2014 as an Employee Benefits Broker. Prior to GBS Benefits, Todd was an Estimator and Project Manager with a large commercial and custom residential construction company. He is skilled in contract review and negotiation, data analysis, value engineering and consulting. Todd holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Weber State University in Technical Sales and Construction Management. Before completing his degree at Weber State, Todd attended Salt Lake Community College where he played for the Bruins Baseball team. Todd is licensed in Health, Life, and Disability Insurance.
Trent has been in the health insurance industry since 1994 and is licensed in Health, Life, and Disability Insurance. He has held sales, underwriting, and management positions locally with BlueCross BlueShield, Altius Health Plans, and UnitedHealthcare of Utah. As an experienced broker in the local healthcare market, Trent is familiar with the challenges of employee benefits and the options that are available for large and small businesses. He can assist with insurance plans of all sizes and has had particular success developing employee benefit plans for large associations in Utah. Trent received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Weber State University.
Tyler is a group benefits specialist with over 20 years of healthcare experience and is licensed in Health, Life, and Disability Insurance. He has expertise in all sizes of groups, with an emphasis in self-funding arrangements. From 1991-2000, Tyler worked at Dale Barton Agency as an employee benefits specialist on insurance specific to construction companies. He has also served as the education chair for Utah Association of Health Underwriters. Tyler graduated from Weber State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Technical Sales.

Allison has many years of account management experience and 16 years of experience within the benefits industry. She came to GBS Benefits after being highly sought after for her work with Altius Health Plans, where she was a large group Account Manager for 8 years, managing over 40 groups, including both fully-insured and self-funded groups, with a combined annual premium of over $75 million. At GBS Benefits Allison competently handles employer groups of all sizes and composition, ensuring both the employer and the employees are well educated on their benefits.

Andrea brings 17 years of insurance industry expertise and experience. She joined the GBS Benefits team in 2008; first as a Renewal Coordinator and was then promoted to her current position of Account Manager. Prior to GBS Benefits, Andrea was with Altius Health Plans where she held several positions: Customer Service Team Lead, New Business Coordinator, and finally Large Group Account Manager. Andrea is known for her dedication to her clients and her competence in helping her clients understand their benefits, resolving claims and billing issues, and answering enrollment questions. As a native speaker, she is fluent in Spanish and uses her skills to translate written benefit materials for GBS Benefits clients and support enrolled employees who speak Spanish. Andrea received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Utah and is licensed in Health, Life and Disability Insurance.

Colette joined GBS Benefits in 2004 in our Vernal office. Just prior to GBS Benefits, Colette was employed for 6 years as an Administrative Support Specialist at an insurance brokerage office. She began her career in retail management, giving her 10 years of experience with customer service. Dana joined LGBS in March of 2006. Prior to working at LGBS, Dana gained valuable experience in client service working with major Southern Nevada health insurance carriers including PacifiCare, Nevada Care, and Health Plan of Nevada. Her increasing responsibilities with these carriers give her a unique perspective on managing client needs. Dana Breer is an expert in the science of understanding clients and exceeding their expectations. As a project manager, Dana excels at driving projects forward and corralling all of the elements necessary to deliver projects on time and on budget. Dana has developed tools for LGBS clients that simplify renewal processes, streamline rate negotiations and deliver easy-tounderstand reports. Deb joined LGBS in 2003. She has over 18 years of experience in the Insurance Industry with both carriers and national and regional insurance brokerages. She began with Sierra Health Services in 1999 as a Member Services Rep. Her success in this role led to a promotion in the Broker Services Department as a Broker Services Rep. This experience was invaluable as she transitioned to the broker side in 2005 as a Claims Advocate assisting clients in resolving claims and enrollment issues. She is licensed in the State of Nevada.

Debbie has worked in the insurance industry for 15 years and joined LGBS as an Account Manager in 2006. Prior to joining LGBS, she was an Account Coordinator in the Sales Department and Underwriting Department at Sierra Health Services. Debbie excels at facilitating communication and services by maintaining close relationships with clients and carriers. Debbie is skilled in a variety of technical programs LGBS offers to clients. This knowledge helps her provide a high level of service and assist clients in handling arduous tasks such as enrollment procedures, payroll deductions, and human resource needs. Florence also spent 5 years selling Individual Products, Medicare Supplements, Conversion, and HIP. Florence’s varied experience at Regence and her work with both small and large employer groups with fully-insured and self-funded arrangements of medical, dental, and ancillary products, allows her to give significant insight to her clients. Sasha joined GBS in 2017 and brings with her over 17 years of experience in the health insurance and healthcare industries. Prior to GBS, Sasha worked for both Intermountain Healthcare and SelectHealth. At SelectHealth, Sasha worked as a Large Employer Account Manager assisting new business and associations, providing ongoing service and support, and helping groups with renewals. There, she honed her skills including open enrollment presentations, wellness education, client meetings, benefits compliance, reporting, claims tracking and resolution. Tina brings 18 years of sales, account management, and service expertise. With a diverse background, Tina has worked with several startup companies in medical technology and with large corporations such as eBay and ADP.
Most recently Tina spent 3 years at ADP working with over 200 local businesses as a Human Capital Management Consultant. Tina worked to educate, service, and sale ADP while earning some of the highest accolades awarded by ADP.

Aaron QuarnbergIndividual Sales
Aaron Quarnberg is the Vice President of Individual Sales for GBS Benefits. With the Affordable Care Act, the individual insurance market has become challenging for consumers and business owners to navigate. Aaron has a track record of using innovative sales strategies and practices to serve this market with tremendous results. Just prior to GBS Benefits, Aaron was the Vice President of Sales and Member Services for Arches Health Plan. Under his leadership, the company grew to a $150 million organization in just 3 years. During this time he also consulted for local and national insurance brokerages and carriers on best sales practices, using technology, and call center design. Aaron also has a strong background in Medicare sales having worked with industry leaders like Extend health and eHealth Insurance. Previous to Arches Health Plan, Aaron was the founder of his own company specializing in non-traditional financial planning.
In his current role, Aaron is creating a hybrid model of sales and customer service aimed at eliminating the confusion in obtaining health insurance while providing individuals with the best customer service experience. Aaron sits on the Board of Directors for the Utah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and is passionate about helping Utah’s Hispanic population. Aaron is licensed in Accident & Health and Life Insurance.

Becca earned a M.S. from the University of Utah in Sport Nutrition and is a Registered Dietitian. Prior to GBS Benefits, Becca worked as a consulting dietitian. Becca’s primary responsibilities include providing strategic direction for population health management; planning, designing and implementing an array of health promotion and prevention services for our clients; and supporting the mission and goals of GBS Benefits, Inc.. Becca loves to spend time in the mountains –trail running and skiing, or simply being outside to enjoy sunshine and fresh air. She is enthusiastic about helping others realize the physical and mental benefits of prioritizing healthy habits to live meaningful lives.
Chris joined GBS Benefits in 2014 as the GBS Benefits Disability Products Specialist. Chris’ varied background equips him with superior communication skills and the ability to perform accurate analysis on detailed contracts and plan information. Just prior to GBS, Chris was a Senior Policy/Legal Analyst with the Science Applications Internal Corporation involved in government contracts with the Department of Defense and the Office of the General Counsel for International Affairs. While in Washington, D.C., Chris also worked as an Advance Representative with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and with The White House in the Office of the Vice President as an Advance Representative. With his fine attention to detail, Chris has been an asset to employer groups in helping them ensure that the income of their employees is protected. Joe has an extensive pharmaceuticals background, having worked in the pharmacy arena for over 16 years. Ken Hunter is the Director of Online Services at GBS Benefits, Inc. Ken has over 7 years of Human Resource Information System (HRIS) experience and has worked with nearly 20 different benefits technology vendors and over 198 companies—from large corporations to mid-size organizations across diverse industries. Prior to his employment with GBS Benefits, Ken was with Moreton & Company as the Technology Services Manager. Early in his career, Ken worked in the Large Loans Department at Wells Fargo managing several offices throughout the state of Utah. Ken holds double Bachelor’s Degrees in Business Administration and Computer Science from the University of Utah and the University of North Las Vegas, as well as a Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Utah. Lorie Brown brings over 20 years of insurance industry experience. She began her career on the carrier side at Select Health, where she was an Enrollment Specialist for 7 years. In 2005, Lorie joined the GBS Benefits team in the COBRA Department. In early 2015, Lorie was promoted to the position of COBRA Director at GBS Benefits. Lorie’s department is currently providing COBRA administration for nearly 700 clients located in Utah, California, Idaho, Colorado, Nevada and Arizona.
Russell VinikMedical Director
After completing his medical school training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in 1999 and Internal Medicine residency at Yale, Greenwich Hospital in 2002, Dr. Vinik began his career as a full-time Hospitalist caring for inpatients at the University of Utah Hospitals. He has been co-director of the hospitalist group and has spearheaded multiple projects to improve the quality of care at the University. Dr. Vinik is currently the Chief Medical Utilization Officer for the University of Utah Hospitals in clinics. He has multiple administrative roles serving as liaison between the medical staff and hospital operations. In January 2015, Dr. Vinik began a new role as Medical Director for GBS Benefits. He is working with the Population Health Management Team at GBS Benefits to identify and intervene upon gaps in care that can improve the health of populations.

Susan served as an Assistant Attorney General with the Utah Attorney General’s Office for fourteen years. Most recently, Susan worked for the local law firm of Howard, Phillips and Andersen which focuses, in part, on health benefit laws and issues. Since summer of 2011, she has been working with GBS Benefits, Inc., helping a variety of employers understand and comply with the many (and often complicated) provisions of Health Care Reform. Susan earned her J.D. degree in 1992 from the Reuben Clark School of Law, at Brigham Young University. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and volunteering in the community.

Shauna started in the insurance industry in 1980. Having been employed with The Hartford, Altius Health Plans and Pacificare/FHP, Shauna brings 15 years of strong carrier experience with her to GBS Benefits. Shauna joined the GBS Benefits team in 2011. In her role as a Client Manager, Shauna provides dedicated service to employer groups with less than 50 employees. She handles claims and billing reconciliation issues, customer service, and provides education to employees regarding their benefits.
